Desky

Desky was a project I started to learn GTK application development and Rust at the same time. It was my first foray into application development and one of the more complicated projects I had attempted at the time.

Having only really used Python in any extensive way before this, that was not the best decision, and it was a massive pain using Rust at the time. However, the experience with GTK helped Recordbox get started, and that one started with Python and was ported to Rust later, leading to Recordbox being the project that actually taught me Rust and GTK. The source code is NOT available for this because the online repo I was hosting is gone now and the code wasn’t that great to begin with.¹

While this project will never see the light of day again, it was my first foray into proper application development, and Recordbox would probably not have gotten started (or at least been much more of a headache) if it wasn’t for the skills I gained while creating it.
